Yucatan is the name of the 31 states of Mexico, located on the North of the Yucatan Peninsula. The capital is Merida and largest city of the Mexican state of Yucatan. Merida has been nicked named "the White City," because of the common color of its buildings. The Spanish spoken in the Yucatan is readily identifiable as different due to its heavy influence by the Mayan language.
